Complex Developmental Behavioural Conditions

Complex Developmental Behavioural Conditions is a term used to describe significant difficulties that may affect an individual in multiple areas of functioning, such as learning and development, mental health and behaviour, adaptive and social skills.  It also includes FASD (Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder), Complex Child and Youth (CCY): ADHD, ADD, etc. and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Family Services

The Family Services Coordinator (FSC) supports families of children with special needs from 36 months to school entry. For many families, their first CDC contact is with the FSC. Visits are available in the Centre, home or community. More Info »

Infant Development

The Infant Development Program (IDP) serves families of children from birth to 3 years of age who have been identified with developmental delays or are at risk for developmental delays.  The goal of the program is to provide early intervention to optimize children’s development and their participation in the community. Integrated Pre-School

The Child Development Centre has two classrooms licensed by the Community Care facilities Licensing Program through the Ministry of Health. There are Early Childhood Educators and Preschool Support Workers in each classroom. More Info »

Occupational Therapy

The role of the Occupational Therapist (OT) is to help develop skills in the areas of self-care, productivity and play.   The OT works with children from birth to school entry age More Info »

Physiotherapy

The main goal of the Physiotherapist is to encourage development of gross motor skills in children from birth to school entry age. More Info »

Special Services

Special Services organizes three different programs for children and youth from birth to the age of 19 years who meet the eligibility criteria. The services include Respite Program—This program provides a break for families who are caring for children and youth with special needs. Skills Enhancement Program—The Skills Program provides life skills training for children with special needs. Speech Language Pathology

The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) at the CDC provides service for children from birth to school entry age.More Info »

Supported Child Development Program

The Supported Child Development Program (SCDP) supports children to fully participate in inclusive neighbourhood child care programs.  Child care programs include licensed preschool, group daycare, family child care and school age care.  SCDP serves  children from birth to age 19 who have a developmental delay or disability and require extra support.  A developmental delay or disability may affect physical, cognitive, communicative, social, emotional or behavioural development.
