  • The CDC was established by a group of volunteers in 1973. The land and buildings were bought and paid for with funds raised by volunteers.

  • Funding comes from the government, and through the generous support of volunteers, groups, and the community.

  • More than 20 staff work at the CDC.

  • The CDC provides outreach services for surrounding communities to areas such as Hudsons Hope, Halfway, Prespatou, Wonowon, Buick Creek, Blueberry, Montney, Doig River, Charlie Lake, Taylor, Baldonnel, Cecil Lake and Goodlow.

  • Services Include: Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Infant Development Program, Special Services (Respite/Skills/KAMP), Preschool, Speech-Language Therapy, and Family Services.

  • Special Services accepts children and youth from birth to nineteen years for the Respite, Skills Enhancement and KAMP programs. All other programs except Special Services accept children from birth to school entry.

  • Currently the CDC serves approximately 280 children.

  • Referrals to a programs come from a variety of people including: parent/caregivers, doctors, nurses, other CDC therapists, or other concerned people (with the knowledge and consent of the parent).

  • Most services are free of charge, but Respite, Preschool and K.A.M.P. do charge a fee.

  • CDC staff work with children and families individually, in small groups, in the preschools or day-cares, and during home visits. The length, & duration of therapy varies greatly from child to child.

  • CDC staff can loan toys, videos and book.

  • The Centre offers dfferent types of workshops, seminars & screenings. For Example- Preschool Speech Screenings, Psychology Clinics, Hanen Language Program, Baby Massage Clinics, and Seating Clinics.

  • The CDC staff members involved with a child coordinate their efforts to focus on goals that parents help determine.

  • Parents are an important part of the childs team.A childs team may consist of parents, therapists, preschool staff, infant development consultants, special services staff, family services coordinator and others from the community.

  • Through out the year, the Infant Development Consultants and Family Services Coordinator.hold coffee groups and play groups.

  • Parents of children attending the Centre are encouraged to participate in the ParentsAdvisory Committee.

  • The CDC Foundation and Society boards are made up of community volunteers, parents, and CDC staff.

  • All donations are tax-deductible

  • The CDC accepts Interac, Visa, and Mastercard.
